چکیده

[Purpose] The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of external supports on the degree of knee flexion. [Subjects] Twenty volunteers (40 knees) were recruited to the study. [Methods] Active knee flexion was measured using a goniometer with the patient in the supine position. After measuring the knee flexion with the leg naked, the same procedure was repeated after application of an elastic stocking, an elastic bandage or a Jones bandage. [Results] The Jones bandage appeared to inhibit the knee flexion angle by 16.8%. This value was 2.7% for the elastic stockings and 4.2% for the elastic bandage. [Conclusion] These results may be used in the modification of the rehabilitation regime after total knee

Relationship between kinematic parameters of the lower limb and maximum ground reaction force during jumping and one-legged landing

Background: Anterior cruciate ligament injury is one of the most common injuries of the knee joint and prevention of this injury is of great importance(1). Considering that ground reaction forces are one of the load factors on the anterior cruciate ligament, Despite much research in this field to prevent ACL injury, the prevalence of this injury is still high(2). For example, previous studies h...

On the estimate of the two dominant axes of the knee using an instrumented spatial linkage.

This article presents the validation of a technique to assess the appropriateness of a 2 degree-of-freedom model for the human knee, and, in which case, the dominant axes of flexion/extension and internal/external longitudinal rotation are estimated. The technique relies on the use of an instrumented spatial linkage for the accurate detection of passive knee kinematics, and it is based on the a...

Rotational Alignment of Femoral Component for Minimal Medial Collateral Ligament Release in Total Knee Arthroplasty

PURPOSE We attempted to determine the degree of rotation of the femoral component to achieve an ideal rectangular flexion gap with minimal medial collateral ligament (MCL) release using a modified measured technique. MATERIALS AND METHODS Group I consisted of 60 osteoarthritis patients (72 cases) who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with minimal MCL release and Group II consisted of 48...
